Cyberdog had its germination in 1993 when Glenn Watson started writing for Nikon Club Australia, a subscription loyalty program run by the then importers of Nikon, Maxwell Optical Industries. The nationwide Club had its own quarterly full-colour magazine Light Reading with feature articles, regular Q&A and photo feedback columns by Glenn. During this time Glenn also wrote dozens of articles for other titles including Australian Photography, Commercial Photography, Digital Photography & Design and Better Digital.
With the editor of Light Reading, Melissa Coleman, Glenn realised that his experience in writing, graphics, photography and illustration could be developed into a business. They formed Cyberdog Interactive in 1999. Glenn also worked at Maxwell part-time during 2003–2005 as Website and Training Manager.
Glenn then worked in the Sydney branch of Dunnart Advertising and Design servicing customers in Alice Springs, NT. In mid-2006, Glenn left Dunnart, bought out Melissa and created Cyberdog Design. Based at first in Summer Hill and now in Homebush Business Village, Cyberdog services clients located everywhere from Byron Bay to Coonabarabran. The original Maxwell Optical Industries remains a valued Cyberdog client as Maxwell International Australia.
